LEARN AND STAY GRANT

If you are a nurse or Medical Laboratory Technologist Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance is included in the Province’s learn and stay grant. This program offers free tuition, books and other fees to students who stay and work in the region where they studied. Huron Perth is included in an expanded South West Region and can take advantage of the following programs:

TUITION SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR NEW NURSES (TSPN)

If you are a new nurse, you may be eligible for the Tuition Support Program for nurses. The Tuition Support Program for Nurses (TSPN) offers tuition reimbursement to recent nursing graduates from rural and remote communities who are new College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registrants and who choose to do a return-of-service (ROS) in an eligible underserviced community.

The program is open to nurse practitioner, registered nurse and registered practical nurse graduates who apply within one year of having graduated from a Canadian University or College.

Q. How do I apply?
Submit your application online only to careers@lwha.ca citing the job posting number. Hard copy applications will not be accepted.

Q. Does one application work for all available positions?
You are required to submit a separate application for each position you’re interested in, ensuring you cite the job posting number with each application.

Q. Should I contact someone to ensure my application was received?
Unless you have experienced technical issues when submitting your application, all applications are confidentially submitted to our Human Resources account and no further follow-up is required. Applicants will receive an automatic reply to confirm your application has been received. Once your application is submitted, we will only be in contact with those who are selected for an interview.

Q. How long will my application/resume be kept on file?
Applications will be kept for a minimum of 3 months. However, applicants are still required to apply to any position of interest as applications kept on file will not be included with future posted positions.

Q. What happens after I apply?

Your Guide to Volunteering

STEPS TO VOLUNTEER WITH LWHA

In order to be accepted as a volunteer you must complete the following steps:

IF YOUR APPLICATION IS ACCEPTED

  • You will be contacted by the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance Human Resources Department.
  • An interview will be scheduled.

IF YOU ARE CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED FOR A VOLUNTEER POSITION

  • Volunteers must have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed. In order to obtain a VSC you will need to obtain an official letter from the Hospital stating your name, volunteer position and why you need a VSC completed.
  • All volunteers must complete a pre-health review. The pre-health review form can be obtained by clicking here: LWHA Pre-Placement Health Review Form.

Patient Partner Council

The Patient Partner Council member is a volunteer role that is advisory in nature. Patient Partners will provide the patient and family perspective and enhance principles of Patient and Family Centered Care, and are expected to be objective and balanced in their approach. Patient Partners will act as ambassadors for Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance (LWHA) in the community.

The Patient Partner Council meets 9 times per year for 1-2 hours each month. If you are interested in joining, please complete an application form.

Emergency Department Closure

Listowel Memorial Hospital - Temporarily Closed Tuesday, May 28th, 2024
The emergency department is temporarily closed for those not seeking urgent medical attention.
 
All scheduled appointments have been cancelled at Listowel Hospital today May 28th and will be rescheduled.
 

Patients experiencing a medical emergency are advised to call 911.
We regret the need to take this step and are working diligently to return to normal operations. We thank the community for their understanding.

Listowel Parking Lot Closure

Due to some extra repairs required in the paid parking lot, The visitor parking lot at Listowel Memorial Hospital will be closed for repairs:

Monday, September 4th at 1500, to reopen late Tuesday, September 5th

Alternate parking is located behind the hospital.
