Laboratory

The Laboratory at Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance provides services to Inpatients and Emergency patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The laboratory team consists of Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants. The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance labs partner with the Interhospital Laboratory Partnership (IHLP). Visit the IHLP website at www.ihlp.ca.

The following services are provided:

  • Core Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Immunohematology (Blood Bank) testing
  • Microbiology (performed at the Stratford General Hospital)
  • Pathology and Cytology (performed at the Stratford General Hospital)
  • Point of Care Testing Coordination and Management
  • Specimen collection
  • ECG, Holter and Loop recorders and Stress tests

Community Outpatient Labs

A valid Health Card is required for all services, otherwise a fee will be charged. Patients must have a booked appointment and requisition from an authorized Health Practitioner.

Emergency Department Closure

Wingham and District Hospital - Closed Sunday, September 29th, 2024

Please note that the Wingham District Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed at the following times this weekend:

Sunday, September 29th at 7:00am to Sunday September 29th at 5:00pm

Patients experiencing a medical emergency are advised to call 911.
We regret the need to take this step and are working diligently to return to normal operations. We thank the community for their understanding.

Listowel Front Entrance Closure

Due to required construction, anyone requiring to access the hospital through the main entrance on Monday, September 9th and Tuesday, September 10th will need to use the ambulance doors around the corner to the left of the main entrance.

Signs will be posted to direct people to this door. Security will be on site as well to help direct people where they need to go once inside the building.
