Your Guide to Volunteering

STEPS TO VOLUNTEER WITH LWHA

In order to be accepted as a volunteer you must complete the following steps:

IF YOUR APPLICATION IS ACCEPTED

  • You will be contacted by the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance Human Resources Department.
  • An interview will be scheduled.

IF YOU ARE CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED FOR A VOLUNTEER POSITION

  • Volunteers must have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed. In order to obtain a VSC you will need to obtain an official letter from the Hospital stating your name, volunteer position and why you need a VSC completed.
  • All volunteers must complete a pre-health review. The pre-health review form can be obtained by clicking here: LWHA Pre-Placement Health Review Form.

Patient Partner Council

The Patient Partner Council member is a volunteer role that is advisory in nature. Patient Partners will provide the patient and family perspective and enhance principles of Patient and Family Centered Care, and are expected to be objective and balanced in their approach. Patient Partners will act as ambassadors for Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance (LWHA) in the community.

The Patient Partner Council meets 9 times per year for 1-2 hours each month. If you are interested in joining, please complete an application form.

Emergency Department Closure

Wingham and District Hospital - Closed Sunday, September 29th, 2024

Please note that the Wingham District Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed at the following times this weekend:

Sunday, September 29th at 7:00am to Sunday September 29th at 5:00pm

Patients experiencing a medical emergency are advised to call 911.
We regret the need to take this step and are working diligently to return to normal operations. We thank the community for their understanding.

Listowel Front Entrance Closure

Due to required construction, anyone requiring to access the hospital through the main entrance on Monday, September 9th and Tuesday, September 10th will need to use the ambulance doors around the corner to the left of the main entrance.

Signs will be posted to direct people to this door. Security will be on site as well to help direct people where they need to go once inside the building.
