Like the majority of communities across Ontario, North Perth is experiencing a shortage of family doctors and other primary healthcare providers. Your health matters, so in the meantime, here are answers to some frequently asked questions, as well as helpful resources.
Please note that the Wingham District Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed at the following times this weekend:
Wingham Emergancy Department will be closed on Sunday, March 8th, 2026 at 11:45 p.m. to Monday, March 9th, 2026 at 7:00 a.m.
This specific closure is related to nursing vacancies related to inclement weather. All efforts were undertaken to fill this shift. This is a last resort and we deeply regret taking this action.
Ambulances will bypass the hospital during the closure period and travel to the nearest open ED. All local health care providers will be informed of this closure.
